Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Oversees maintenance and repair of production equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools and production lines. Ability to follow diagrams, schematics, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical malfunctions.
- Experience with equipment such as Multivac, Rollstock and/or Ossids preferred.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operations, listening for problems and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Able to remove defective parts by dismantling devices.
- Controls down time by informing production workers when routine preventative maintenance needs to be done.
- Maintains equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needed equipment, parts and supplies. Submits requisitions as needed.
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish results.
- Maintains continuity among work groups by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with rules, regulations and procedures.
- Monitors central control room, observing temperature, pressure and ampere readings for system and equipment and adjusts controls or overrides automatic controls to obtain specified operation of equipment.
- Conducts or schedules periodic inspection of equipment and system to observe operating condition and need for repair or adjustment.
- Adjusts controls to isolate and clear broken lines for repair or shuts down equipment.
- Repacks pumps, compressors, cleans condensers, and replaces worn or defective parts.
- Oversees the maintenance of forklifts and other equipment.
* Ensures the property and equipment remains neat and orderly, in good order and repair, and safe for use.
- Works with management to ensure hazardous materials reporting is completed as required.
- Follows OSHA safety guidelines in the performance of work.
- Plans and/or performs work requiring knowledge of local building and safety codes.
WORKING HOURS:
A typical work week consists of 45-50 hours. A typical work shift consists of a schedule from 4:00 pm to 6:00 am, or until work is completed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and five plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports directly to the Director of Maintenance.
WORK CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an environment which ranges from a climate controlled office environment with moderate noise level to warehouse environments with 40-45 degree temperatures and moderate to high noise levels. The employee maybe exposed to subfreezing conditions for short periods of time. The employee may be frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
