A food-distribution company is seeking an experienced transportation supervisor to oversee daily routes, driver support, delivery execution, and transportation compliance. This is a hands-on position for someone who remains organized, communicates clearly, and can solve operational issues in real time.
What You Will Do
- Supervise daily routes, schedules, driver assignments, and delivery activities.
- Supervise transportation team.
- Monitor routes in real time and respond to delivery, customer, driver, and equipment issues.
- Ensure deliveries arrive on time, at the correct location, and in good condition.
- Manage route reconciliation, including delivery documentation, product returns, customer payments, deposits, and operational reporting.
- Maintain accurate timecards and submit departmental payroll on time.
- Support employee training, attendance management, performance discussions, and employee-relations matters.
- Monitor DOT/FMCSA compliance, Hours of Service, vehicle documentation, and Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance, repairs, registrations, insurance records, and equipment service.
- Maintain accurate transportation records and communicate issues or delays to leadership and other departments.
- Travel as needed to support other locations, training, operational projects, or temporary coverage.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two or more years of commercial transportation or dispatch experience.
- Experience coordinating commercial drivers on fixed or variable routes.
- Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA requirements and transportation documentation.
- Experience handling payments, deposits, or online transactions.
- Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with eLog, Excel, Microsoft platforms or similar operational systems.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Ability to work on-site and adjust your schedule based on routes and operational needs.
Qualifications
- Previous lead or supervisory experience.
- Food-distribution, warehouse, or transportation experience.
- Active CDL Class A license preferred.
- Experience supporting driver training, safety programs, or performance management.
