Role:
The Mortgage Processor is responsible for coordinating and processing mortgage and home equity loan files from application through closing. This position prepares mortgage loans for internal and secondary market closings, centrally processes home equity loans originated by branch offices, and serves as a key resource for members, employees, and external contacts regarding loan status and requirements. The role is dedicated to delivering excellent service while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency throughout the loan process.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for members seeking information about mortgage products and services via phone, online channels, and in person. Provide professional, responsive service and assist Family Trust employees with mortgage-related inquiries.
- Process home equity loan applications received from branch offices, including gathering and reviewing required documentation, coordinating closings with attorneys, and assisting with post-closing reviews.
- Support Mortgage Loan Officers by scheduling appointments, distributing loan referrals received from credit union employees, and assisting with member pre-qualification as needed.
- Promote and cross-sell credit union products and services by identifying member needs and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Maintain current knowledge of mortgage lending trends, regulatory requirements, investor guidelines, and secondary market requirements affecting mortgage lending operations.
- Process mortgage loan files from application through closing by obtaining required documentation from borrowers, organizing and maintaining loan files, uploading investor packages, coordinating attorney closings, and ensuring compliance with investor, regulatory, and credit union requirements.
- Review title commitments, title reports, and related legal documentation to verify lien position, identify any liens, judgments, or encumbrances that may affect the credit union's interest, and confirm the accuracy of property legal descriptions.
- Be effectively cross trained to assist other members of the mortgage production department with their assigned duties as needed.

- To work with the Mortgage Manager to assist with the efficient and effective workflow and processes of the Mortgage Department.
- To serve as a contact for members and realtors throughout the mortgage loan process.
- To participate in continuing education and training events
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Six months to two years of similar or related experience with knowledge of mortgage lending processes and procedures and secondary market procedures is required. Previous experience in consumer lending is preferred but not required.
Education: A high school education is required, with additional education desired. Work related experience with proven performance may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and sound judgment are essential for success in this role. The position requires ongoing communication with members, employees, and external business partners to provide information, respond to inquiries, and support lending operations.
