Overall responsibilities and duties:
The Controls Technician will provide controls and electrical engineering support to assigned UAP cell and maintenance efforts. They will become the Controls Engineer expert and assist maintenance in supporting the plant UAP through troubleshooting/problem solving methodologies to eliminate down time and decrease quality defects to the customer. They will be responsible to write, create, and modify programs to meet plant objectives.
The main missions of the role are:
o Provide Controls engineering support plant wide and controls/manufacturing engineering support to the assigned production area
o Provide support to the Quality Department and Quality Engineer as required
o Provide support to the maintenance department in troubleshooting to reduce and eliminate downtime
o Review processes and procedures on an on-going basis for safety, quality, and production efficiency
o Assist in other UAP support as assigned
o Participate in Hoshin and Continuous Improvement events as assigned
o Participate as TS16949 and/or ISO Internal Audits as assigned
o Coordinate with maintenance to minimize down-time
o Maintain PFMEA and all downstream documents for minor changes
o Provide input into PFMEA generation for new programs
o Provide justification of major purchases for Core Group to manager
o Stay informed of environmental aspects, follow procedures and work to eliminate or reduce the PFMEA ratings as relates to position and/or department
o Stay informed of quality issues and opportunities as relates to position and/or department.
o Follow procedures and corrective action assignments as required to eliminate or reduce PPM’s
o Complete all other duties and tasks as assigned by management
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have/be:
Minimum education level: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technical discipline OR 5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer
Experience:
o Automotive manufacturing experience
o Autocad – electrical and mechanical; Allen Bradley software/programming
Skills and competencies:
o Ability to troubleshoot PLC programs
o Ability to identify root causes of line stoppages related to PLC topics
o Experience leading and managing automation of a manufacturing process
o Ability to communicate with operators on the shop floor, as well as professional managers within the organization
