We are looking for a professional. (But may have started with making shatter in their cousin’s garage) A lab-minded, safety-first, pressure-reading, yield-tracking, solvent respecting Extraction Technician who knows that great oil doesn’t happen by accident.
At Detour, we don’t outsource. We don’t cut corners. And we don’t guess. We extract. Precisely.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
You’ll be inside the lab running hydrocarbon, ethanol, and solventless systems like a calm, competent adult.
- Operating BHO systems, ethanol recovery, rosin presses, centrifuges, vacuum ovens, rotovaps — the fun toys. (hope you like toys!)
- Prepping biomass like a surgeon (weighing, staging, logging, zero shortcuts).
- Monitoring pressure, temperature, and critical variables like your Spotify playlist depends on it.
- Executing winterization, filtration, decarb, distillation.
- Logging yields, batch data, potency numbers — because “I think it went well” is not data.
- Maintaining C1D1/C1D2 compliance and following SOPs like they’re sacred texts.
- Partnering with QA so everything leaving this lab is Michigan-proud and regulator-approved.
- Contributing to R&D because we don’t just make products — we improve them.

Who You Are (Beyond our new Superhero)
- 1–3 years extraction experience (hydrocarbon + ethanol preferred).
- Solventless experience? Even better.
- You understand C1D1/C1D2 environments and don’t treat butane like it’s a scented candle.
- You know extraction science, not just TikTok science.
- You’re detail obsessed. Logs are clean. Numbers are accurate.
- You can lift 50 lbs and stand on your feet.
- 21+ and background check ready.
Bonus points if you:
- Know closed-loop systems, centrifuges, rotovaps, vacuum ovens.
- Have GMP / ISO 9001 experience.
- Know METRC or seed-to-sale software.
- Have OSHA 10 or 30.

Compensation
- $20.00 – $23.00/hour (based on experience)
- Training rate: $18.00/hour
