Essential Functions:
- Oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the program and child assessment. Organizes special activities/events for parents and families.
- Maintains proper records/department files.
- Develops and maintains relationships with licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.
- Supports healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
- Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
- Oversees the care-giving staff for a specific group of children and overall care and supervision of children.
Qualifications/Responsibilities:
- Minimum age requirement of 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience or the equivalent preferred, preferably as a coordinator or supervisor of childcare programs.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Candidates must also fulfill one of the following qualifications for licensing:
OPTION 1:
-6 months experience working with children.
-6 semester hours, 9 CEUs or a combination to equal 90 clock hours of coursework in:
- Child care administration
- Early childhood education
- Child development
- A child-related field.
OPTION 2:
-3 months experience working with children.
-One of the following:
- Valid child development associate credential
- Montessori credential
- Michigan youth development associate certificate or credential
- Associate degree in a child related field
OPTION 3:
-No experience working with children.
-An associate degree or higher in any field of study
-15 clock hours of school-age training
