Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Teacher Assistant to join our educational team and support the learning and development of students with diverse needs. Your role will be vital in assisting with classroom activities, implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), and ensuring that students with disabilities receive the personalized support they need to thrive.
Duties
- Assist lead teachers in implementing curriculum plans across subjects such as literacy, math, and social skills, including Montessori and preschool methodologies.
- Support students with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum or with developmental disabilities, by providing physical assistance, behavioral support, and classroom management.
- Help create a positive learning environment by managing behavior strategies aligned with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) guidelines and behavior management techniques.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and execute individualized education plans (IEPs), ensuring each student’s unique needs are met.
- Support classroom activities by preparing materials, organizing learning stations, and assisting with lesson planning and curriculum development.
- Use effective communication skills to engage with students, fostering literacy education, early childhood development, and social-emotional growth.
- Handle confidential information responsibly while supporting students’ academic progress in a safe and nurturing setting.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in early childhood education or preschool settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of special education practices, including classroom support for students with disabilities and behavioral disorders.
- Familiarity with autism spectrum disorders support strategies, behavior management techniques, and physical assistance for students with special needs.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus; excellent communication skills are essential.
- Understanding of Childcare principles, Montessori methods, toddler care, and classroom management strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators and specialists to support curriculum development and lesson planning.
- Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or special education needs is highly valued.

Pay: $12.50 - $16.00 per hour
