In this position, you will be responsible for the creation, restoration, and upkeep of production tooling across a range of precision requirements. Your scope of work encompasses items such as assembly tools, inspection gages, special fixtures, and production components. Success in this role requires a commitment to established operational procedures and a focus on maintaining a secure and highly productive work environment.
Core Responsibilities:

Analyze and interpret technical drawings, including those utilizing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

Utilize various tool room machinery, such as mills, lathes, grinders, and saws, to produce parts that meet exact specifications.

Apply your understanding of tool steel properties, material applications, and relevant heat treatment techniques.

Ensure the proper handling and labeling of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials as directed by management.

Work alongside leadership to support the design, execution, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.

Take an active role in leading and participating in ongoing process improvement efforts.

Develop the operational sequence required for fabrication tasks.

Confirm part dimensions by utilizing precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, scales, comparators, and gauge blocks.

Carry out routine preventive maintenance on all tool room equipment.

Foster a collaborative environment by sharing knowledge with colleagues, including apprentices and fellow toolmakers.

Follow and uphold all established process standards.

Demonstrate a practical understanding and application of Lean manufacturing principles.

Promptly report any unsafe or suspicious conditions to your Lead or manager to help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team.

Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following skills:

Consistently perform all core duties with accuracy and safety, ensuring no damage to shop tools or equipment.

Utilize shop mathematics, including trigonometry, geometry, and algebra, to solve production problems.

Demonstrate proficiency with precision measuring tools like drop gages, calipers, and micrometers.

Possess a foundational understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience with CNC and CAD software is considered an asset.

Maintain the ability to read and write in English.
Education and Experience:

A High School Diploma or G.E.D. is mandatory.

At least 4 years of relevant toolmaking experience or equivalent training.
-
Certification in Machine Tool Technology, NIMS, or MT1 is required.
-
Completion of a formal apprenticeship is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
