Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking experienced Pipe Welders to join a growing fabrication team in Tulsa. This night-shift position is responsible for producing high-quality pipe welds using MIG, Flux Core, and TIG processes while meeting strict fabrication, inspection, and quality requirements.
The ideal candidate has strong pipe welding experience, is comfortable welding in the 6G position, and can consistently produce quality work in a fast-paced industrial fabrication environment. ASME welding experience is highly preferred but not required.
Required Experience & Skills
- Previous pipe welding experience required
- Proficiency with MIG (GMAW), Flux Core (FCAW), and TIG (GTAW) welding processes
- Ability to successfully complete required hands-on weld testing
- Ability to read and interpret welding procedures, fabrication drawings, and specifications
- Strong understanding of pipe fit-up and welding techniques
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a fabrication team
- Reliable attendance and strong commitment to workplace safety
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform pipe welding according to project specifications and established quality standards
- Complete welds using MIG, Flux Core, and TIG processes
- Perform welding in multiple positions, including 6G
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding procedures, and production specifications
- Set up and safely operate welding equipment according to job requirements
- Inspect completed welds for quality and identify potential defects
- Maintain required production and quality standards throughout the welding process
- Keep welding equipment and work areas clean, organized, and safe
- Follow all company safety procedures and welding requirements
- Perform additional welding and fabrication duties as assigned
Weld Test Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete a hands-on weld test that may take up to three hours.
6" Schedule 80 Coupon
- 6G position at a 45-degree angle
- MIG and Flux Core welding
2" Extra Heavy Wall Pipe
Additional testing may include:
- X-ray inspection
- Bend testing
- Additional weld quality evaluations as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous ASME welding experience
- Experience welding pressure piping or other code-quality components
- Strong TIG pipe welding experience
- Experience working in heavy industrial fabrication environments
- Familiarity with weld inspection and testing requirements
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working in multiple welding positions
- Ability to safely work around welding equipment, heavy materials, heat, sparks, and industrial machinery while wearing required PPE
- Comfortable performing physically demanding fabrication work throughout a 10-hour shift
