The Human Resources Coordinator will maintain, design, and implement a people- and culture-driven HR strategy to support KMI’s mission and workforce. This role oversees all aspects of talent acquisition, employee engagement, compliance, and organizational development in a fast-paced aerospace environment. The HR Coordinator ensures a people-first approach that aligns with company values and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Build and evolve KMI’s HR function to support the company’s scaling needs and mission objectives.
- Act as a key advisor to leadership on organizational culture and workforce planning.
- Manage hiring processes, including unsolicited resume submissions, hiring rounds, interview coordination with supervisors, job offers, and onboarding assistance.
- Support inclusive policies that promote engagement, accountability, and innovation.
Business Development & Financial Strategy
- Support contract and grant compliance related to personnel, benefits, and labor standards.
- Contribute to proposal development with labor data and staffing projections.
- Help manage HR budgets and benefit programs in alignment with financial goals.
Operational & Team Leadership
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training programs.
- Oversee performance management systems, career development, and employee relations.
- Maintain HR accounts for state and federal programs and preferred company resources.
- Maintain internal HR documentation, including Employee Handbook, KMI Policies, Onboarding Guides, etc.
- Ensure legal compliance with employment laws, safety standards, and HR best practices.
- Manage documentation, HRIS platforms, and internal policy resources.
- Engage with KMI partners for insurance, employee support, and team growth.
Industry Advocacy & Public Engagement
- Represent KMI’s values at local Marquette and Upper Peninsula events, industry HR events, and talent partnerships.
- Promote company culture in external communications and recruitment efforts.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in human resources leadership, preferably in aerospace, tech, or government contracting.
- Understanding of employment law, workforce compliance, and organizational behavior.
- Demonstrated success in shaping culture and supporting interdisciplinary teams.
- Degrees or certifications in HR concentrations are not required, but are preferred (some continuing education may be supported by KMI).
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
Requirements
- Ability to legally work in the United States and the state of Michigan.
- Ability to legally work on ITAR/EAR restricted technologies within the United States.
- Availability to relocate to the Marquette County area within 6 months of hiring.
Structure
- Reports to the Head of Administration.
- Works closely with KMI officers and department heads to support personnel needs and company culture.
