Operations & Business Intelligence Manager
Location: Brighton / Fowlerville, MI (Onsite)
Salary: $100,000 to $130,000
Reports To: Leadership
About the Role
HOGWORKZ is seeking an Operations & Business Intelligence Manager to lead the design and implementation of the operational systems, labor plans, and performance metrics that run our Michigan facilities. This is a hands-on operations leadership role, not a reporting-only position.
You will own operational improvement across our distribution warehouse and custom paint / production shop. That means designing how the work gets done, implementing the systems that support it, and building the KPIs and dashboards needed to manage it. Expect to spend as much time on the warehouse floor and in the paint shop as you do in the data.
The ideal candidate is an operator who is fluent in data: equally comfortable walking a pick path and rebuilding it, standing up a production schedule, and building the Power BI dashboards that keep it all accountable.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations & Labor Efficiency
- Design and implement a slotting plan: run velocity / ABC analysis on order history, place fast-moving SKUs in optimal locations, and structure bin/aisle naming so directed picking follows the shortest path.
- Build out the bin / aisle / sublocation structure in our inventory system (Finale Inventory) and configure directed picking, replenishment, and barcode workflows.
- Develop labor standards and a daily labor plan for receiving, picking, packing, and shipping, staffed to a daily volume of 300 to 600 large B2C orders.
- Establish KPIs for productivity, throughput, order accuracy, and labor utilization, and manage the floor against them.
Paint Shop & Production Planning
- Select and implement an MRP / production planning system for the custom paint operation (master data, BOMs, routings, and scheduling).
- Establish production targets, lead-time goals, and a scheduling process that keeps output ahead of demand.
- Design and staff a multi-shift structure (2nd / 3rd shift) sized to hit throughput and lead-time targets.
- Develop KPIs for throughput, lead time, labor efficiency, rework / error rates, and on-time completion.
Business Intelligence & Reporting
- Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and executive reporting drawn from inventory, MRP, CRM, and order data.
- Develop company-wide KPI scorecards and lead weekly and monthly operational reviews.
- Surface trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities, then translate them into operational action instead of just reporting them.
First-Year Outcomes
Within the first 12 months, this role will have
- Implemented a slotting plan and bin structure in our WMS, with a measurable reduction in pick travel and order cycle time.
- Established labor standards and a daily labor plan for the distribution warehouse.
- Selected and implemented an MRP / production planning system in the paint shop, with clean master data and an active scheduling process.
- Stood up production targets and a multi-shift plan that keeps the paint operation ahead of demand.
- Delivered executive dashboards and weekly operational reviews across warehouse and production.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in warehouse operations, production / manufacturing operations, supply chain, or industrial engineering, including hands-on responsibility for floor performance.
- Demonstrated experience designing slotting plans and/or developing labor standards.
- Experience selecting or implementing an ERP / MRP or WMS system, not just operating one.
- Strong dashboard / analytics skills (Power BI or Tableau) and the ability to turn data into operational decisions.
- Experience setting KPIs and managing teams to measurable targets.
- Preferred: ecommerce / B2C fulfillment, custom or made-to-order production, or multi-shift operations experience.
