Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Low Voltage Technician to join our team and drive excellence in telecommunication and networking infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage systems across various commercial and industrial sites. Responsibilities
- Install, test, and troubleshoot low voltage systems including fiber optic cabling, Ethernet networks, telephony systems, and security wiring.
- Perform fiber splicing with precision to ensure optimal signal integrity for high-speed data transmission.
- Set up and configure network equipment such as Cisco routers, switches, and other telecommunication devices.
- Conduct cable management, routing, termination, and labeling to meet industry standards and safety protocols.
- Use hand tools like crimpers, wire strippers, ohmmeters, and mechanical tools to complete installations accurately.
- Perform field service duties including diagnosing issues, repairing faults, and performing routine maintenance on network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with team members to plan project layouts and ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations.
- Document all work performed with detailed reports for future reference and quality assurance purposes.
- Assist in training or mentoring junior technicians when necessary to promote team growth.
Skills
- Proven experience in fiber splicing with a strong understanding of optical signal requirements.
- Solid knowledge of network installation procedures involving Ethernet cabling and telecommunication wiring.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, and basic network configuration tasks.
- Strong background in computer networking principles including IP addressing, subnetting, and network troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience as a service technician in telecommunication or low voltage systems is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, ohmmeters, and other mechanical tools used in electrical work.
- Mechanical knowledge related to cable management systems and conduit installation.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to field service challenges.
