Location: Pittsburgh Air Reserve Station, Coraopolis, PA
POSITION: EAST O&M LLC., a multi-service facility management and base operations support provider to military installations, has the need for a full time HVAC Mechanic.

23410 HEATING, VENTILATION, AND AIR-CONDTIONING MECHANIC:
The Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning Mechanic installs, services and repairs environmental-control systems in residences, department stores, office buildings, and other commercial establishments, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout, mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, fabricates, assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment, and installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools. This mechanic also cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools, cuts and threads pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment, joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant, installs expansion and discharge valves in circuit.
Climate control for commercial buildings involves complex HVAC systems (like RTUs, VRF, Chillers) that manage heating, cooling, and ventilation for large spaces, focusing on zoning for different areas, energy efficiency through smart controls (DDC, occupancy sensors), and air quality via filtration, with key strategies including regular maintenance, insulation, and using fans/blinds to reduce energy load and maintain occupant comfort.
Primary Responsibilities are:
· Install, service, and repair environmental-control systems (DDC) in military establishments utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout
· Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source
· Replace defective breakers, control thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units using electrician’s hand tools and test equipment
· Must possess a current EPA CFC/HCFC refrigerant processing certification / Universal certification
· Troubleshoots, diagnoses, makes repairs, and reads blueprints
Job Requirements:
Must be a graduate of an accredited technical school’s Diploma Program; or possess a 7-level specialty code in a military school’s program; or have an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Heating, Ventilation, or Air-Conditioning. A verifiable three (3) years commercial or military work experience as a journeyman (or equivalent) HVAC Mechanic in the last six (6) years may be substituted for the education requirement; must have five (5) years experience in the trade in addition to education requirements.
Must be able to qualify for and maintain the appropriate “Secret” Security Clearance
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening & physical
Must comply with company policies, OSHA, NEC, and base safety
Required to safely lift up to 75 pounds, and climb ladders
Must possess the tools of the trade
Required to follow oral and written directions in English
Must possess a valid state's driver's license
Knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook or similar programs is helpful
Other duties as assigned
COMPENSATION:
We offer a competitive salary and benefits. Hourly wage will be $37.36 plus H&W $10.86 as a HVAC Mechanic with the ability to be paid up based on additional work assignments.
