Position Overview
Tenor High School - Journal Square Campus is seeking a dedicated School Food Service Assistant to join our growing team. As our campus continues to expand, we are looking for a reliable individual to provide essential support for our nutrition program. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that our students receive professional, safe, and efficient meal service. The successful candidate will support the school's mission by providing a well-managed and positive cafeteria environment that allows students to focus on their academic day.
Schedule & Benefits
- Status: Part-time, school year employee (approx. 188 days per year).
- Hours: 8:15 AM – 1:15 PM (approx. 25 hours per week).
- Start Date: August 12th-14th (Attendance at the 3-day New Hire Orientation is required). August 19th is the start date for all school staff.
- Lunch: 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
- Time Off: Includes school breaks and summers off, 3 paid holidays, sick days, and 1 personal day.
- Benefits: Please note this is a part-time position with no benefits, except 403b retirement benefits, holidays, and sick and personal time off
Key Responsibilities
- Meal Service: Receive and verify daily meal deliveries, store items at required temperatures, set up serving lines, serve meals to students, and reconcile meal counts.
- Food Safety & Sanitation: Maintain a sanitary environment by cleaning equipment, utensils, and serving areas; follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene requirements.
- Inventory: Monitor supply levels, notify supervisors when replenishment is needed, and organize food and supplies.
- Support: Provide professional customer service to students, staff, and visitors, maintain confidentiality regarding student information, and assist in creating a positive cafeteria environment.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in food service is preferred.
Certifications:
- ServSafe Food Handler preferred (or ability to obtain within 1st year.
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification in CPR, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
Screening:
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check, reference verification, and other employment-related screenings.
