Under the supervision of the Aquatic Section Manager and the Rec Center manager, this position supervises and administers the operations and programming of a large aquatic facility and provides safety and risk management oversight. Ensures facility compliance with federal, state, and county public safety and risk management regulations. Increases site revenue and enhancing operations through additional community outreach efforts. Implements aquatic programs, special events and program services for all ages and abilities and plans/schedules all usage for the natatorium. Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, and supervises aquatic full-time and part-time staff and volunteers. Participates as a member of the rec center management team by working manager-on-duty shifts to provide facility coverage as well as operational and customer support.
Appointee will be required to work a varied schedule including some weekends, evenings, and occasional overtime.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in recreation and park management, therapeutic recreation, or other closely related field; plus, two years of progressively responsible experience in park or recreation services related work, as applicable to the position.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
The appointee to the position will be required to complete a criminal background check and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Managing an aquatic facility to include financial management, administrative tasks, and front-line cash handling staff.

Operating filtration and chemical systems.
-
Training and supervising lifeguards for events and recreational swimming activities.

Coordinating large group and camp reservations.

Planning and running a large aquatic learn-to-swim and water exercise program.

Hiring, training, and supervising seasonal and full-time aquatic staff.

Working as a manager on duty for the entire Rec Center.

Proficient in using a computer to include Microsoft Office software, Rec Dynamics or similar program, FOCUS or similar staff time and attendance software, Tririga or similar maintenance tracking software.

Knowledge of and ability to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards for operating an aquatic facility and programs.

Planning long-term maintenance and renovations.

Demonstrated excellent customer service.

Strong oral and written communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 20-40 pounds occasionally and to stand for long periods of time. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
