Overview
We are seeking a proactive and dependable Porter/Maintenance Worker to join our dynamic facilities team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of our premises. Your energetic approach will ensure that our environment remains welcoming, functional, and well-maintained for staff, visitors, and clients alike. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the smooth operation of our facilities through hands-on maintenance, cleaning, and custodial duties.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning of all areas, including floors, restrooms, offices, and common spaces using commercial cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and vacuums.
- Handle custodial tasks with attention to detail, ensuring a hygienic and inviting environment at all times.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting (residential or commercial), and general upkeep to keep facilities in optimal condition.
- Safely handle chemical agents used for cleaning and maintenance, following all safety protocols and handling procedures.
- Assist with heavy lifting and manual handling tasks involving furniture, supplies, or equipment while adhering to safe lifting practices.
- Operate floor care machinery including buffers and polishers to maintain high standards of cleanliness and appearance.
- Support industrial cleaning projects or specialized custodial services as needed to meet operational demands.
Experience
- Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial, industrial, or residential settings is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle chemical agents safely and effectively during cleaning operations.
- Experience with floor buffing, polishing, and general floor care techniques.
- Knowledge of facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting, and equipment upkeep.
- Proven ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following proper manual handling procedures.
- Familiarity with commercial cleaning tools and equipment including vacuums, buffers, and cleaning solutions.
- Previous porter or maintenance worker roles that showcase reliability, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude are highly valued.
