The Operations & Equipment Specialist is responsible for learning, operating, troubleshooting, and mastering high-speed production and packaging equipment within a fast-paced commercial bakery manufacturing environment.
This position is designed for mechanically inclined individuals who enjoy working with machinery, solving problems, learning equipment systems, and becoming experts in manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate may come from manufacturing, automotive, farming, skilled trades, warehouse operations, or vocational training backgrounds.
This role is heavily hands-on and focused on becoming a true equipment expert across multiple production and packaging lines.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Learn and operate all assigned production and packaging equipment safely and efficiently
Become fully trained on multiple manufacturing and packaging lines
Perform machine startups, shutdowns, and changeovers
Monitor product quality, machine performance, and production flow
Troubleshoot operational issues and escalate mechanical concerns quickly
Assist with reducing downtime, waste, and production delays
Learn machine settings, adjustments, timing, and operational controls
Maintain clean and organized work areas
Support production goals, efficiency targets, and safety standards
Work closely with Production, Packaging, Quality, and Maintenance teams
Train and assist other operators as skill level increases
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred
Mechanical aptitude strongly preferred
Ability to learn multiple machines and production systems
Strong attendance and reliability
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable standing, bending, and moving throughout shift
Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Willingness to learn and grow into advanced operator responsibilities2 years of experience in production supervision. Bakery experience is preferred.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and Food GMP implementation (in a bakery environment preferred).
