Superior Fuel Company is looking for a dependable, safety-minded individual to help maintain our yard and support our propane service and rail operations.
This is a flexible, part-time position that may be a great fit for a college student or someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in the propane industry. No previous propane or rail experience is required—we will provide training.
Spring, summer, and fall: Daytime yard maintenance, facility upkeep, and assistance with entry-level propane service work.
Winter: Part-time evening, nighttime, and weekend work assisting trained employees with the transfer and offloading of propane from bulk railcars.
Yard Maintenance and Service Support
Mow lawns and help maintain the appearance of the yard and facility
Remove weeds, brush, debris, trash, snow, and other materials as needed
Operate lawn equipment, power tools, skid steers, and other equipment after training
Help maintain propane tanks, equipment, tools, and facility areas
Assist propane service technicians with basic tasks, including trenching, gas-line preparation, tank maintenance, and jobsite cleanup
Pick up parts and supplies from local vendors
Organize and help track parts, tools, and shop supplies
Complete other general yard, shop, and facility projects as assigned
Winter Railcar and Propane Transfer Support
Assist trained employees with connecting and offloading bulk propane railcars
Monitor gauges, valves, hoses, and transfer equipment during unloading
Help inspect railcars and transfer equipment before and after use
Follow company procedures and all required propane and rail safety practices
Maintain a clean and safe unloading area
Complete unloading logs and basic operational records
Promptly report leaks, equipment concerns, or other unsafe conditions
Railcar and propane transfer duties will only be performed after required training and under company procedures.

Have basic mechanical ability or an interest in learning how equipment works
Can work independently while also being part of a team
Are comfortable with a schedule that changes seasonally
Want to gain experience in propane service, equipment operation, facility maintenance, or terminal operations
Previous experience with landscaping, farming, construction, mechanical work, propane, rail, or terminal operations is helpful but not required.
Must be at least 18 years old
Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
Ability to obtain a DOT medical card, if required for assigned duties
Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and required safety training
Ability to work outdoors in changing and sometimes extreme weather conditions
Ability to safely perform physical work, including bending, climbing, and lifting or moving heavy materials with assistance or appropriate equipment
CDL is helpful but not required
Schedule
Spring through fall: Primarily weekday daytime hours
Winter: Evening, nighttime, and weekend shifts as propane railcars arrive
Hours may vary depending on weather, workload, and seasonal propane demand
We are willing to work around school schedules when operationally possible.
$20.00–$24.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
