Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate addiction severity, mental health status, and treatment needs using diagnostic tools aligned with ICD-10 coding standards.
- Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy techniques.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health management, and behavioral change strategies.
- Implement crisis intervention protocols to support clients experiencing acute emotional or behavioral distress.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, case management activities, and community-based services such as child & family counseling and home & community care programs.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including intake forms, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
- Utilize medical terminology effectively during patient interactions and documentation to ensure clarity and consistency across medical records.
Skills
- Proven experience in psychotherapy, addiction counseling, and clinical counseling within behavioral health or medical settings.
- Strong proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to foster client engagement and facilitate behavior change.
- Expertise in crisis intervention strategies, crisis management, and trauma-informed care including PTSD-specific approaches.
- Knowledge of hospital procedures, medical records management, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Skilled in conducting diagnostic evaluations using behavioral health assessment tools; familiar with ICD coding systems for accurate diagnosis documentation.
- Experience with group therapy facilitation, social work practices, and behavior management techniques.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with professionalism while demonstrating excellent communication skills in individual and family counseling contexts.
