Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments according to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while ensuring adherence to dental sterilization procedures and radiation safety protocols.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide patient management support by explaining procedures, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow efficiently.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging when necessary to support comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain dental equipment, including dental instruments processing, dental sterilization procedures, and ensuring all tools are ready for use in four-handed dentistry.
- Uphold clinical confidentiality policies while delivering top-tier patient care in a friendly, professional manner.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy.
- Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing medical records and patient management software.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, including healthcare infection prevention and control expertise, aseptic techniques, and dental sterilization procedures.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and other clinical tools effectively.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles is preferred; experience working with children is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly and provide compassionate patient care.
- Certification in radiography or X-ray technology is highly desirable; certification requirements vary by region but are essential for safe practice.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
