Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Special Education Teacher to join our team at KI Sawyer Elementary. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for young children with diverse needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of early childhood development and special education practices, and will work collaboratively with families, staff, and specialists to support each child's growth and learning.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of each student.
- Create a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to each child's education.
- Provide direct instruction in academic and life skills, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and resources.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and documentation for IEP meetings and reports.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in special education and early childhood practices.
- Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities and promote an inclusive classroom culture.
- Supervise and support classroom aides and volunteers in their interactions with students.
- Engage in ongoing communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Early Childhood Special Education.
- Experience working with young children with special needs preferred.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and special education regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and specialists.
