Department Information
Optimizing our enrollment mix is crucial to the long-term viability of Indiana University (IU) Indianapolis. There are several factors that influence a student's college choice, persistence, graduation and success. The Division of Enrollment Management is comprised of over 100 full-time staff in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of the Registrar, Office for Veterans and Military personnel, P12, as well as other areas supporting student enrollment. The Division also oversees and provides insight for its enrollment operations for the Fort Wayne and Columbus campuses.

Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities

Serves in the daily on-call counseling rotation, providing exceptional customer service to prospective students, families, and campus visitors.

Conducts individual in-person and virtual admissions counseling appointments for prospective students and families.

Delivers engaging daily admissions presentations to campus visitors and organized groups.
-
Assists with daily campus visit programming, including welcoming visitors, coordinating schedules, and ensuring a positive guest experience.

Escorts prospective students and families to academic units, student service offices, residence halls, or other campus locations as appropriate.

Serves as a knowledgeable resource regarding academic programs, admissions requirements, financial aid, scholarships, orientation, housing, and campus resources.

Provides timely follow-up communication to prospective students to support application completion and enrollment.

Serves as a resource for students with complex admissions situations, including prior conduct concerns, nontraditional educational backgrounds, homeschool students, domestic students with international coursework, military-affiliated students, transfer students, and other unique enrollment circumstances.

Assists colleagues in resolving escalated student concerns and identifying appropriate campus resources.

Serves as an operational resource for admissions staff by assisting with complex troubleshooting related to admissions processes, CRM records, application issues, and enrollment workflows.

Participates in the admissions office chat rotation, providing accurate, timely, and student-centered responses to prospective students and families.

Collaborates closely with Admissions Operations to identify process improvements and resolve complex applicant issues.

Maintains accurate documentation of student interactions within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and other university systems.

Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for admissions staff.

Collaborates with campus partners to improve recruitment, enrollment, and student support initiatives.

Assists with onboarding, mentoring, and training new admissions counselors and student staff.
-
Shares best practices and provides guidance related to admissions policies, procedures, and customer service.

Represents the Office of Undergraduate Admissions on university committees and collaborative work groups.

Represents IU Indianapolis at off-campus events including high school visits, fairs and other events as needed.
General Responsibilities

Maintains, implements, and oversees a holistic recruitment yield tactical plan for recruitment.

Develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals.
-
Integrates a diverse and strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, geared toward specific student declared academic major, career interests, and geographic factors.
-
Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers.
-
Interprets academic policies and exercises authority and independent judgment.
-
Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and processes and determines the effectiveness of markets and strategies. Exercises independent judgment and uses census data and modeling tools to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations.

Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll under-represented populations.

Participates in the assessment and evaluation of various models.

May attend meetings or serve on committees with the admissions stakeholders, including all staff meetings, recruitment, and outreach team meetings, customer service lead meetings, and undergraduate recruitment council meetings; may provide guidance to other admissions counselors.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Some automobile travel may be required.
Some early morning, weekend, and/or evening assignments may be required.
