Job Overview
This position is Mondays and Thursdays. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part-Time Hospice Chaplain to provide spiritual support and guidance to patients, families, and staff within a hospice care setting. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference during some of life's most vulnerable moments by offering pastoral care, emotional support, and spiritual counseling. The Chaplain will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure that the spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones are met with sensitivity, respect, and professionalism. This position is ideal for a motivated individual with a strong background in religious leadership, pastoral theology, and crisis intervention who is committed to serving diverse communities with empathy and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Provide spiritual guidance, comfort, and bereavement support to patients facing terminal illness and their families, respecting diverse faith backgrounds and beliefs.
- Conduct religious services, prayer sessions, and spiritual rituals tailored to individual needs and preferences.
- Offer crisis intervention and emotional support during difficult moments, helping families navigate grief and loss with compassion.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop personalized care plans that incorporate spiritual considerations.
- Lead educational sessions on religious studies, biblical theology, or spiritual topics for patients, families, and staff as needed.
- Facilitate community outreach events or memorial services that promote healing and spiritual growth.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, spiritual assessments, and bereavement follow-up activities in compliance with organizational policies.
Skills
- Proven experience in teaching religious studies or biblical theology with strong presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with culturally diverse communities while respecting different faith traditions.
- Expertise in hospice care, terminal illness counseling, and crisis management within a nonprofit faith-based organization context.
- Skilled in pastoral counseling, Christian counseling, conflict management, and mentoring individuals through grief processes.
- Exceptional communication skills for public speaking, event planning, and delivering impactful spiritual messages.
- Strong leadership qualities combined with the ability to collaborate seamlessly within interdisciplinary teams.
- Proficient writing skills for documentation, reports, and educational materials related to pastoral theology and spiritual guidance.
