Ergonomic Specialist
Job Summary
A leading West Michigan manufacturing company is seeking an Ergonomic Specialist to improve workplace safety, employee well-being, and operational efficiency across its manufacturing facilities. This role is responsible for evaluating workstations, tools, and production processes to identify ergonomic risks and implement practical solutions that reduce injuries, improve comfort, and support productivity. The Ergonomic Specialist will partner closely with operations, safety, engineering, and production teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and workplace safety.
Responsibilities
- Conduct ergonomic assessments of workstations, equipment, tools, and manufacturing processes across multiple departments.
- Identify ergonomic risks and recommend practical solutions, including workstation modifications, equipment improvements, and process enhancements.
- Collaborate with operations, safety, engineering, and leadership teams to implement ergonomic initiatives that improve employee safety and productivity.
- Develop and deliver ergonomic training for employees, including proper workstation setup, body mechanics, lifting techniques, and safe work practices.
- Monitor the effectiveness of ergonomic improvements and recommend additional enhancements as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of ergonomic assessments, recommendations, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
- Assist with incident investigations involving musculoskeletal injuries and recommend preventative measures to reduce future risk.
- Stay current on ergonomic standards, industry best practices, and applicable safety regulations while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

- Schedule: Full-time, direct hire position
- Location: Holland, MI
- Compensation: competitive, based on experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Occupational Safety, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of ergonomic principles, workplace assessments, and injury prevention strategies.
- Experience performing ergonomic evaluations and utilizing ergonomic assessment tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical, effective solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
