Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented ABA Billing Specialist to manage medical billing processes related to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services. In this role, you will ensure accurate coding, claim submission, and follow-up on payments, supporting our mission to provide exceptional care. Your expertise in medical coding, billing procedures, and insurance claims will be instrumental in maintaining smooth financial operations.
Duties
- Review and verify clinical documentation to ensure proper coding using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes for ABA services.
- Prepare and submit clean claims using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly, performing effective medical collections to maximize reimbursement.
- Maintain accurate medical records, billing logs, and documentation related to billing activities.
- Collaborate with clinicians and administrative staff to resolve billing discrepancies or issues efficiently.
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and billing regulations relevant to ABA services.
- Generate reports on billing performance, outstanding accounts receivable, and reimbursement trends.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of ABA billing experience required
- Must be fluent in WAYSTAR & MOTIVITY
- Experience billing Medicaid and commercial insurance plans
- Strong understanding of CPT codes (e.g., 97153, 97155, etc.)
- Knowledge of authorizations, claims submission, and denial management
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
