Job Purpose:
The Facilities & Security Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance, cleanliness, security, safety, and operational readiness of all church facilities and grounds. This role serves as the primary steward of church property by ensuring buildings are secure, clean, welcoming, and fully functional for worship services, ministry activities, outreach programs, and community events.
The Facilities & Security Manager provides hands-on facility maintenance and custodial services while overseeing building access, surveillance systems, safety protocols, event support, and vendor relationships. This position requires a servant leader who is committed to supporting the mission and ministry of 2CAL Church through excellence in facility operations and security.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilities Management & Maintenance
- Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and appearance of church buildings and grounds.
- Conduct routine inspections of all facilities to identify maintenance, safety, or security concerns.
- Perform minor repairs involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules.
- Ensure all church equipment, systems, and facilities remain operational and ministry-ready.
- Coordinate and supervise outside contractors and service providers as needed.
- Maintain church grounds, parking lots, sidewalks, entrances, and exterior areas.
Security Operations & Access Control
- Serve as the primary on-site security representative for the church.
- Open and close church facilities for worship services, meetings, ministry activities, and special events.
- Conduct security walks before, during, and after church activities.
- Monitor surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and access control systems.
- Observe and report suspicious activity, safety concerns, and security incidents.
- Maintain building key control and access authorization procedures.
- Ensure all facilities are secured after events and activities.
- Assist with emergency response planning, evacuation procedures, and crisis management.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement, emergency personnel, and church leadership when necessary.
- Support security planning and monitoring for off-site church events and ministry activities.
- Maintain security logs, incident reports, and facility access records.
- Supervise contracted security personnel and volunteer safety teams when applicable.
Custodial & Janitorial Services
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and welcoming church environment at all times.
- Clean and sanitize worship areas, classrooms, offices, restrooms, kitchens, fellowship halls, and common spaces.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and perform floor care as needed.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout the facility.
- Replenish restroom supplies, paper products, soap dispensers, and cleaning materials.
- Clean windows, glass doors, furniture, and high-touch surfaces.
- Set and maintain cleanliness standards throughout the church campus.
- Monitor custodial supply inventory and order supplies as approved.
- Coordinate deep cleaning projects and seasonal cleaning schedules.
- Oversee contracted janitorial services when utilized by the church.
Event & Ministry Support
- Coordinate room setup and breakdown for worship services, Bible studies, meetings, weddings, funerals, conferences, and special events.
- Arrange tables, chairs, staging, and equipment according to ministry needs.
- Ensure facilities are prepared before events and restored afterward.
- Support ministry leaders with facility logistics and operational needs.
Budget & Inventory Management
- Assist in developing and managing the facilities and maintenance budget.
- Monitor expenses and recommend cost-effective improvements.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance equipment, tools, custodial supplies, and church property assets.
- Track repair, maintenance, and facility-related expenditures.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Collaborate with pastors, staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and community partners.
- Recruit, train, and supervise facility volunteers when appropriate.
- Foster a culture of hospitality, safety, stewardship, and excellence.
- Provide exceptional customer service to members, guests, and visitors.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical, maintenance, facilities, security, or trade certification preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in facility management, maintenance, custodial operations, security, or a related field.
- Experience in a church, ministry, nonprofit, or community organization preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems.
- Knowledge of security monitoring systems, surveillance cameras, and access control procedures.
- Understanding of custodial best practices and cleaning standards.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with email, scheduling software, and basic computer applications.

- On-call availability for facility emergencies and security concerns.
