Who We Are
We are Linen Society, a privately and locally owned luxury home textiles company rooted in Portland. We sell beautiful products, but at the heart of it, we are in the people business. Our culture is built on accountability, respect, collaboration, and trust.
The Annex is our newest space, a companion to the beloved French Quarter and Manor Fine Wares, a name woven into the fabric of the Pearl District and treasured there for decades. It is a jewel of a space, curated, personal, and full of pieces our customers fall in love with, and we are looking for someone to be its heart three days a week. Someone warm, self-directed, and genuinely invested in the people around them. Just as important as experience: we are looking for an all-around good person.
The Role
The Annex Specialist is the heart of the Annex, and for three days a week, this beautiful space is yours to run. You will welcome every customer, guide them to something they will love, and grow each visit with the perfect addition. Because you work here on your own, we are placing real trust in you, and that trust is one of the best parts of the role. The space, the experience, and the results are truly yours to own.
This is retail at its most focused and rewarding. Your gift is helping people discover the piece they did not know they needed, the finishing touch that makes their selection feel complete.
Working on your own also makes you the quiet guardian of the Annex. You will keep the space beautifully organized and inviting, our inventory in order and carefully accounted for, and you will look after everything in it with the care of someone who treasures it. Tending to those details is one of the most satisfying parts of the day.
A word on trust, because it means so much in a role like this one. When you are here, you are the Annex, and we are counting on you, and so is every customer who walks through the door hoping to be helped. Being someone people can rely on, without fail, is one of the most generous things you can offer, and here it is the foundation everything else is built on. If you take quiet pride in being that person, you will feel right at home.
What You'll Do
- Welcome every customer with genuine warmth and make them feel instantly at home in the Annex
- Guide each customer to something they will love, and grow every visit with the thoughtful addition that makes their selection feel complete
- Run the space beautifully on your own, from opening the doors to closing them, with real pride and ownership
- Know our product inside and out, so every recommendation feels effortless and every question has a warm, confident answer
- Keep the Annex looking its best, thoughtfully merchandised, gently restocked, and always inviting
- Care for our inventory as if it were your own, keeping it organized, accounted for, and beautifully in order
- Look after the details others might miss, because in a space this considered, the small things are everything
- Be a trustworthy steward of the space, the product, and every sale, protecting what we have built simply by caring for it well

- Reliable and punctual, because on your days, the Annex opens because you are there
- Wonderful with the fine details, you notice what others overlook and take quiet pride in getting things just right
- A natural at the thoughtful add-on, helping customers say yes to something they are genuinely glad to have
- Warm, self-directed, and happy working independently

- Aligned with our values: devoted to quality, collaborative, caring, and accountable
Why You'll Love It Here
- The space is yours. Three days a week, you run the Annex your way, with real independence and real ownership.
- You are trusted completely, and that trust is empowering, not something you have to earn back every day.
- Your effort shows up directly in your results, with a clear line between a great sale and a great day.
- The product is genuinely luxurious, pieces you will be proud to represent.
- It is calm, considered, and personal, a world away from a crowded, impersonal floor.
Our Core Values
- Devoted to exceptional quality. We aim for what is beautiful, lasting, and truly excellent.
- Caring hosts who bring joy. We want people to feel genuinely welcomed and glad they came.
- Builders of genuine relationships. Warm, honest, and never transactional.
- Teachers and storytellers. We help people understand the why behind what we do.
- We win together. We celebrate shared wins and let the facts guide our decisions.
- Tenacious problem solvers. We bring resourcefulness and determination to every challenge.
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on role, and we want you to know what to expect day to day.
- You will be on your feet and moving around the store, which keeps the day lively and engaging
- You will reach, bend, and kneel while styling displays and helping customers, and you will use color vision to work with our beautiful textiles
- You will work comfortably with our technology, including the register, to help customers and process sales smoothly
- You will lift and move items up to about 25 pounds as shipments arrive and the floor is refreshed
