We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our hospital-based rehab team. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT), the COTA will assist in providing high-quality occupational therapy services to patients recovering from illness, injury, or surgery in an acute care or inpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising OT to help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities.
- Assist patients with therapeutic activities targeting mobility, self-care, strength, coordination, and cognitive function.
- Observe and report on patients’ progress and responses to treatment, making recommendations to the OT for modifications when needed.
- Help educate patients and families on proper use of adaptive equipment and safe techniques for completing ADLs (Activities of Daily Living).
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and progress in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including nurses, physical therapists, physicians, and case managers to support coordinated care and discharge planning.
- Maintain a clean and organized treatment area and ensure equipment is functioning properly.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current certification by the NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy).
- Current state licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
- BLS (required).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
