Position Overview
Weston Corporate Services (WCS) is seeking an organized, dependable, and detail-oriented Event Specialist to support the operations of Rio Plaza Events and other WCS event initiatives. This role works closely with the Event Sales Manager to ensure our venues remain organized, event-ready, and prepared to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
The Event Specialist will assist with event preparation, venue setup, inventory organization, equipment maintenance, and general operational support. While this position is not responsible for selling or planning events, it plays an important role in ensuring events are executed efficiently and that our venues consistently meet WCS standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in organization and wants to be involved behind the scenes in weddings, corporate events, cooking classes, and other special events.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of weddings, corporate events, private parties, cooking classes, and other special events.
- Ensure Rio Plaza and Rita's Test Kitchen remain clean, organized, and event-ready.
- Prepare event spaces according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event layouts.
- Organize, inventory, and maintain event equipment, décor, tables, chairs, linens, and supplies.
- Coordinate with vendors during deliveries and event setup as directed.
- Assist with maintaining storage areas and ensuring equipment is properly cared for.
- Help prepare materials and supplies for cooking classes and other special programs.
- Perform routine venue walkthroughs to identify maintenance, cleanliness, or organizational needs.
- Provide on-site support during events as needed to ensure smooth execution.
- Work collaboratively with the Event Sales Manager and other WCS team members to uphold company standards.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and proactively identify tasks that need attention.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical setup and breakdown tasks.
- Comfortable working evenings and weekends when events require.
- Hospitality or event experience is preferred but not required.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and contribute wherever needed.
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly pay of $25.00 per hour
- Flexible part-time schedule averaging approximately 20 hours per week with additional hours required based on scheduled events
