American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Stepdown/PCU unit requiring at least 1 year of relevant experience and an active IN or compact RN license.
-
Work in a 26-bed Stepdown Intermediate Care unit within a hospital setting
-
Care for a diverse patient population including cardiac, neuro/stroke, dialysis, post-operative, respiratory, and general med/surg overflow cases
-
Manage patients requiring telemetry monitoring, IV drips (cardiac, vasoactive, insulin), central lines, PICC lines, and oxygen therapy including CPAP/BiPAP

Night shift schedule from 18:00-06:30

13-week contract assignment
-
May float to other med/surg units as needed

Active RN license (IN or Compact) currently in hand

Current BLS certification through AHA

Current ACLS certification through AHA
-
Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required

Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start

Provide direct patient care for medically complex patients requiring frequent monitoring and specialized interventions

Perform comprehensive assessments including respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and hemodynamic status
-
Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and lab results, notifying providers of condition changes

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and case management
-
Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
-
Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the EMR
-
Recognize signs of patient deterioration and escalate care or activate rapid response as needed
-
Adhere to infection prevention, fall precautions, and patient safety protocols
-
