Life Skills Coach – Part-Time
Stockton, CA | Up to 40 Hours Per Month
New Start Supported Living Services is seeking a dependable, motivated, and patient Life Skills Coach to provide one-on-one support to a young adult with developmental disabilities in theStockton area. This position requires a strong male role model who is comfortable providing structure, maintaining clear professional boundaries, and helping an individual develop greater independence through consistency, encouragement, and accountability.
Schedule
- Approximately up to 40 hours per month, part-time.
- Currently there is no set schedule as the schedule will be coordinates based on the individuals needs and availability.
Responsibilities
- Teach and reinforce independent living skills
- Assist with developing and maintaining daily and weekly routines
- Provide frequent redirection and help the individual remain focused and on task
- Assist with organization and maintaining a clean living space
- Teach cleaning skills and help establish sustainable cleaning routines
- Provide guidance and prompting with personal hygiene and self-care
- Assist with time management, planning, and completing responsibilities
- Help break larger tasks into manageable steps
- Encourage appropriate decision-making and problem-solving
- Support community integration and appropriate social skills
- Provide positive mentorship while maintaining strong professional boundaries
- Encourage independence rather than completing tasks for the individual
- Complete required documentation in accordance with agency requirements
Qualifications
- Male applicants required for this specific client assignment at clients request
- Patient, dependable, consistent, and encouraging
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Comfortable providing structure, reminders, and redirection
- Ability to establish and maintain clear professional boundaries
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Must be at least 18 year of age
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- Must be able to speak, read and write English
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience supporting individuals with disabilities. Must also have a punctual and reliable work ethic with a positive attitude, empathy and the ability to support others.
- Must be able to pass and maintain a clean DOJ Live Scan Background Check
- Driving Clients: Must provide and maintain a clean DMV driving record, Valid California driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle.
- Have and maintain current CPR and First Aid certification from an in-person course
- Provide Negative TB clearance and clear work physical examination from within the last year
- Ability to complete all required hiring, training, and onboarding requirements
- Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour

This position is best suited for someone who can build a positive relationship while still maintaining the clear boundaries and expectations of a Life Skills Coach.An interest in history, antiques, collectibles, or historical reenactments may be helpful for building rapport with this individual, although it is not required.
Pay: From $23.00 per hour
