- Provide comprehensive nursing care to incarcerated individuals in accordance with physician orders, nursing standards, and correctional healthcare policies.
- Perform nursing assessments, triage, and ongoing monitoring of acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
- Administer medications, treatments, and immunizations while maintaining accurate medication administration records.
- Respond to medical emergencies, initiate appropriate interventions, and coordinate emergency transport when necessary.
- Monitor, assess, and document changes in inmate health status, notifying providers of significant findings.
- Collect specimens, perform diagnostic testing, obtain vital signs, and maintain accurate medical documentation.
- Assist with intake screenings, chronic care clinics, sick call, discharge planning, and health education.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, mental health professionals, correctional officers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality while adhering to all security procedures, facility policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Perform all duties in accordance with the Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act, correctional healthcare standards, and facility policies.
- Current, active Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent Registered Nurse experience required; correctional, emergency, medical-surgical, behavioral health, or acute care experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification required. ACLS preferred.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Ability to accurately document assessments, treatments, and inmate health information in an electronic medical record.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and emergency response skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a secure correctional environment while maintaining professionalism and therapeutic communication.
