Responsibilities
- Operate a commercial tractor-trailer with automatic transmission, hauling flatbed freight.
- Load and unload cargo efficiently, utilizing forklift or other equipment as needed, ensuring secure and proper placement of freight.
- Secure loads properly on flatbeds, adhering to safety protocols to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections on the tractor-trailer, including brakes, tires, lights, and load security, to guarantee safe operation.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs of driving hours, route details, and delivery documentation in compliance with federal regulations.
- Deliver freight to various locations using safe driving techniques, managing schedules effectively to meet delivery deadlines.
- Communicate proactively with dispatchers regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or any issues encountered on the road.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience with flatbed trailers is required.
- Hazmat endorsement preferred
- Proven truck driving experience, especially with flatbed trailers
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or roll-off trucks; familiarity with freight handling equipment is advantageous.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards for commercial driving and cargo securement.
- Comfortable performing detailed vehicle inspections and troubleshooting minor mechanical issues.
- Strong route planning skills for efficient delivery schedules; previous delivery driver experience is highly valued.
