Duties
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and arrive equipped to provide critical pre-hospital care.
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiology evaluations.
- Manage airways effectively using airway management techniques and assist with ventilation as needed.
- Administer basic life support (BLS), medications, injections, and other treatments following established protocols.
- Conduct triage at the scene or hospital to prioritize patient needs based on severity and urgency.
- Document patient information accurately, including medical history, vital signs, and treatment provided.
- Operate emergency vehicles safely while adhering to all traffic laws; perform heavy lifting when necessary during patient transport or equipment handling.
- Collaborate with hospital staff and emergency responders to ensure seamless patient transfer and continuity of care.
Qualifications
- Valid EMT certification with demonstrated experience in emergency medicine settings.
- Prior hospital or Level I/Level II trauma center experience is highly preferred.
- Critical care experience or involvement in critical care transport enhances your candidacy.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, venipuncture, DME (durable medical equipment), and aseptic techniques.
- Proficiency in patient assessment skills including vital signs measurement and physical examinations.
- Experience with airway management techniques and medication administration protocols.
- Ability to perform under pressure in urgent care or emergency room environments while maintaining professionalism.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; capable of heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks.
