About Highland County Job & Family Services:
Highland County JFS is a public human services agency that provides public assistance, child support and child and adult protection services to the residents of Highland County. The Eligibility Specialist position is in the Public Assistance unit, providing Medicaid, SNAP and OWF benefits to our consumers.
Job Responsibilities:
Interviews applicants to determine their initial eligibility for public assistance programs. Gathers and verifies financial records and computes budgets. Approves or denies applications, enters applications, refers applicants to appropriate agency activity. Maintains communication with ongoing public assistance clients to determine their continued eligibility for public assistance, conducts periodic reviews of caseload and re-determines eligibility for continuing or terminating program participation. Performs follow-up actions on all referrals.
Qualifications:
Completion of secondary education or equivalent (high school diploma or GED). Prefer some experience with human services programs but will train the right candidate.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA's) Need Upon Entry:
