GLC Group is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a correctional healthcare assignment in Rome, New York. This is an excellent opportunity for an LPN looking to gain experience in a structured, secure clinical environment while providing essential healthcare services to an incarcerated population.
Compensation
- Weekly Gross: $1,926 for 36 hours
- Hourly Rate: $17/hr
- Weekly Stipend: $1,246
- Overtime: $25.50/hr
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Contract & Schedule
- Contract: 26–52 weeks
- Schedule: 4x10s
- Available Shifts:
- Days: 8:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Afternoons: 3:00 PM–1:00 AM
- Evenings: 6:00 PM–8:00 AM
- Setting: Correctional medical clinics
Qualifications
- Current, valid New York State LPN license
- Corrections, Medical-surgical, ambulatory care, or mental health experience preferred
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations
- Comfortable working with a diverse incarcerated population
- Ability to work effectively within a highly structured and secure environment
About the Facility
This is a secure, medium-security correctional facility with a capacity of approximately 1,000 incarcerated individuals. The facility operates an on-site healthcare program where medical staff provide routine and urgent care within a highly structured correctional environment.
Healthcare staff work closely with nursing and medical teams while following established security procedures and correctional protocols.
Position Overview
The LPN will provide essential healthcare services to the incarcerated population under the supervision of an RN. Responsibilities include medication administration, health screenings, clinical care, documentation, and responding to medical emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer daily medications, including controlled substances
- Monitor medication compliance
- Take vital signs and perform physical assessments
- Conduct health screenings
- Provide wound care and dressing changes
- Respond to medical emergencies
- Document patient health information, treatments, and progress
- Follow correctional security and safety protocols
- Maintain professional boundaries while working with the incarcerated population
