Responsibilities
- Develop engaging lesson plans and activities tailored to school-age children and toddlers, promoting growth in social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills
- Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, naps, and transitions with attentive care and positive behavior management techniques
- Safely operate the school bus or transportation vehicle, ensuring all safety protocols are followed for pick-up and drop-off routines
- Maintain open communication with parents regarding children’s progress, behaviors, and daily experiences through regular updates and meetings
- Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws by accurately documenting any concerns related to child safety or well-being
- Assist in classroom management by creating a welcoming environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and respectful interactions
- Support children with special needs or disabilities by implementing individualized care plans and adapting activities accordingly
Skills
- Proven experience working with children of various ages in daycare centers or preschool settings
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and effective child supervision strategies
- Certification in first aid and CPR (Pediatric First Aid preferred) to respond confidently to emergencies
- Strong understanding of special education needs and experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Excellent communication skills for parent engagement and team collaboration
- Classroom experience that demonstrates effective behavior management and classroom organization
- Ability to operate school transportation vehicles safely while adhering to all safety regulations
- Familiarity with mandated reporting laws related to child abuse or neglect
- Compassionate caregiving skills combined with patience, flexibility, and enthusiasm for early childhood education
