In this vital role, you will facilitate clear and accurate interpretation between deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and hearing parties across various settings.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time interpretation services for deaf and hard-of-hearing clients in educational, medical, legal, and community settings.
- Ensure accurate translation of spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, maintaining the integrity of the message.
- Collaborate with clients and professionals to understand context and adapt interpretation style accordingly.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards outlined by professional interpreting organizations.
Requirements
- Certification as an ASL Interpreter from an accredited organization such as the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).
- Proven experience in interpretation across multiple settings including educational, medical, legal, or community environments.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus; fluency in additional languages enhances communication effectiveness.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and accurately.
Pay: $55.00 - $70.00 per hour
