As an integral part of our emergency services team, you will coordinate rapid assessments, provide life-saving interventions, and ensure seamless patient care in a Level I Trauma Center environment. Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to determine acuity levels and prioritize urgent needs.
- Administer medications and treatments such as IV infusions, suturing, and medication administration following strict aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
- Manage airway patency with ventilator support and respond swiftly to acute emergencies like cardiac arrests or trauma incidents using advanced emergency medicine procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, radiology staff (such as CT imaging), laboratory personnel, and case managers to coordinate diagnostic evaluations like sonography or laboratory testing.
- Document all patient interactions accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Epic while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Lead triage processes to determine priority levels for incoming patients based on severity of illness or injury, including trauma medicine and infectious disease care considerations.
- Provide patient education on discharge instructions, pain management strategies, and follow-up care plans including hospice & palliative medicine when applicable.
Experience
- Proven experience working in emergency room settings with exposure to Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in critical care procedures such as ventilator management, tube feeding, catheterization (including Foley catheters), and aseptic technique.
- Strong background in medical-surgical nursing with familiarity in ICD-10 coding, medical documentation standards, and laboratory experience.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental delays, and behavioral health patients.
- Knowledge of advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), basic life support (BLS), neonatal resuscitation procedures (NRP), and trauma medicine protocols is essential.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks along with experience in hospital medicine or urgent care environments enhances your candidacy.
- Prior exposure to trauma medicine, infectious disease management, acute pain management, and case management processes will set you apart as a well-rounded ER nurse.

Pay: $36.45 - $47.00 per hour
