Company Background: Waterway is a company that works with local fire departments across the country to meet their National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) testing requirements.
Position Overview: The Crew Chief is a SEASONAL, position that is first and foremost responsible for ensuring the successful testing of fire hoses, ladders and related fire equipment. Testing is conducted at the fire department with generally one department tested per day. Training is provided. WE OPERATE APRIL-DECEMBER.
The Crew Leader is responsible for:
- Overseeing and working with a team of 6-10 crew members conducting the testing
- Coordinating with fire department representatives and addressing any questions/concerns that arise on-site
- Schedule and travel logistics
- Implementing detailed operating procedures to ensure quality service delivery
- Training new crew members
- Managing the safety of the job site
- Submitting testing reports accurately and on time
Crew Leader Position Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience managing a team of junior/seasonal employees
- Ability to work and manage a team independently
- Strong logistical skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working outdoors with your hands, handling heavy fire equipment
- Proficiency with scheduling programs, email, and use of digital applications for work
- Driver’s License and a clean driving record
- REAL ID
- Ability to acquire a DOT Medical Card (includes test for cannabis)
Crew Leader Preferred Experience:
- Direct experience working with professional or volunteer fire departments is highly preferred but not required
- Experience directly interfacing with customers/managing customer accounts
- Experience working independently while delivering results
