Black Chapel Brewing is a craft brewery and restaurant on the 290 Wine Trail in Johnson
City, TX. Our kitchen runs a full menu — appetizers, pizzas, and everything in between —
made fresh for guests who came out to the Hill Country for a real experience.
We're looking for a Kitchen Cook who shows up ready to work, takes pride in putting out
good food consistently, and understands that a clean kitchen and a strong team are what
make service actually happen.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Prepare and execute the full menu — appetizers, pizzas, and all other menu items —
to spec and on time
- Complete daily prep work before service: dough, sauces, toppings, and all mise en place
- Work the line during service, managing ticket flow with speed and accuracy
- Maintain food quality and consistency on every plate — not just when it's slow
- Keep your station clean and organized throughout the entire shift, not just at close
- Follow all food safety standards, temperature logging, and sanitation procedures
- Clean kitchen equipment, surfaces, and floors as part of regular shift duties
- Assist with receiving and rotating deliveries and flagging inventory needs to management
- Communicate clearly with teammates and support each other through the rush
- Help with opening and closing kitchen duties as assigned
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Prior kitchen experience preferred — line cook or prep cook background welcome
- Ability to work a full menu, not just one station
- Stays composed and focused when the kitchen gets busy
- Takes cleanliness and food safety seriously every shift, without being reminded
- Texas Food Handler's certification or willingness to obtain before your first shift
- Weekend and holiday availability required
- Able to stand for extended periods in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs (supply deliveries, bulk ingredients)
- Dependable, coachable, and a genuine team player
