What to Expect
In this role, you will be supporting the Tesla Quality Assurance team in inspecting Piping, HVAC, Mechanical Equipment, and systems in the field during the construction phase, prior to the start of commissioning and the handover to end-users. The position requires highly qualified inspectors with strong knowledge of completed mechanical equipment and systems. The role also necessitates good physical ability, as the inspector will spend approximately 75% of their day in the field conducting inspections. Your primary responsibilities will include inspecting and evaluating mechanical piping, equipment, and HVAC systems throughout the construction phase and up to the handover to the end-users. This involves examining various systems such as boilers, chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, pumps, fans, air handlers, ductwork, and piping to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications. You will be tasked with identifying deficiencies, defects, damages, or non-compliance issues, and you will need to have the technical knowledge to provide recommendations for issue resolution or improvements. Additionally, you will prepare inspection reports following each inspection, summarizing your findings, including any deficiencies, observations, or violations. These reports are to be shared with the Project Team. You will also review design plans, specifications, submittals, and vendor instructions to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, providing feedback and recommendations to designers or contractors to address any issues. Collaboration with project stakeholders, such as contractors, engineers, equipment vendors, and other Construction team members, will be essential to coordinate inspections, address concerns, and provide guidance on mechanical piping, equipment, and HVAC systems.
