Position Summary
Zimmer Biomet Riccione is seeking a highly motivated, results-driven Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our orthopedic medical device distribution center. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in medical device orthopedics, surgical, hospital supply chain, sterile processing, or healthcare distribution environment. This individual will play a critical leadership role in ensuring operational excellence across surgery case planning, warehouse operations, logistics, inventory movement, and customer service while maintaining the highest level of service to our surgeons, hospitals, and sales representatives.
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, the Operations Manager will partner closely with the Asset Management Team, Sales Leadership, Customer Service, and Warehouse personnel to drive efficiency, accountability, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer experiences.
This position requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare logistics environment where accuracy, urgency, and teamwork are essential.
Primary Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the distribution center.
- Supervise and develop Operations personnel including Surgery Case Planners, Logistics Coordinator, Warehouse Team, Drivers, and other operational staff.
- Ensure staffing, scheduling, workflow, and resources align with daily business demands.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Distribution & Logistics
- Oversee the coordination of approximately 300+ surgical cases per week.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery and recovery of orthopedic implants, and instruments.
- Monitor delivery performance, route efficiency, pickup compliance, and transportation workflows.
- Partner with Logistics to optimize routing and resource utilization.
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Partner with the Asset Management Team to improve inventory accuracy, stock availability, kit utilization, and Stock on Loan performance.
- Collaborate with Sales Leadership to support surgeon and hospital needs while balancing inventory availability.
- Work closely with Customer Service to proactively resolve operational issues.
- Serve as the operational liaison between Sales and Distribution.
Process Improvement
- Identify workflow improvements that increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Lead Lean process improvement initiatives.
- Develop and implement standardized work and best practices.
- Assist with implementation of new technology including RFID, Scalpel AI, inventory management systems, and operational reporting tools.
Performance Management
- Monitor operational KPIs including:
- On-Time Delivery
- Pickup Compliance
- Case Accuracy
- Inventory Accuracy
- Stock on Loan
- Warehouse Productivity
- Customer Satisfaction
- Analyze trends and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct employee coaching, performance evaluations, and ongoing development.
- Ensure compliance with Zimmer Biomet policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Healthcare Administration, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of operations, warehouse, logistics, or distribution leadership experience.
- 3+ years supervising teams.
- Strong leadership and employee development skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Preferred
- Healthcare, medical device, pharmaceutical, or hospital supply chain experience.
- Experience supporting field sales organizations.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement training.
- Experience with ERP, inventory management, or warehouse management systems.
- Knowledge of inventory control and logistics best practices.
