Position Summary
The Community Outreach Liaison serves as the primary ambassador for Lutheran Community Services throughout the community. This individual builds meaningful relationships with community partners, healthcare organizations, schools, faith-based organizations, businesses, and local government while increasing awareness of LCS programs and connecting individuals with available services.
The ideal candidate is energetic, relationship-focused, and passionate about helping underserved communities.
Essential Responsibilities
Community Engagement
- Represent LCS at community events, health fairs, outreach initiatives, and public meetings.
- Develop partnerships with community organizations, healthcare providers, schools, businesses, and local leaders.
- Coordinate outreach activities that increase awareness of LCS services.
- Recruit and maintain relationships with community partners.
Referral Development
- Increase referrals into Food Programs, Housing Stability, Smoking Cessation, and other LCS programs.
- Conduct presentations promoting available services.
- Identify underserved communities and develop outreach strategies.
Event Coordination
- Assist with planning community events, volunteer opportunities, food distributions, and awareness campaigns.
- Coordinate outreach logistics with internal departments.
- Represent LCS during speaking engagements and networking events.
Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Operations Director
- Food Program Manager
- Housing Stability Manager
- Smoking Cessation Manager
- Marketing Manager
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and assist with organizational initiatives.
Data & Reporting
- Track outreach contacts and referral sources.
- Maintain accurate outreach records.
- Prepare monthly reports highlighting outreach activities and partnership growth.
- Recommend new opportunities for community engagement.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate’s degree in Human Services, Public Health, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Two years of community outreach, nonprofit, healthcare, social services, or public engagement experience.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
- Ability to build strong professional relationships.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations.
- Knowledge of Delaware social service resources.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Frequent local travel throughout Delaware.
