Housekeeping Supervisor

Position Summary
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for leading the housekeeping department to ensure all guest rooms, public areas, laundry facilities, and back-of-house areas meet IHG Brand Standards and hotel cleanliness expectations. This position supervises room attendants and laundry attendants, performs daily inspections, trains team members, and works closely with the Front Desk and Maintenance departments to provide an exceptional guest experience.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations
- Supervise all housekeeping and laundry staff.
- Assign daily room boards and work schedules.
- Inspect guest rooms, public areas, hallways, stairwells, lobby, breakfast area, fitness room, and guest laundry.
- Ensure all occupied, vacant, and inspected rooms meet IHG Brand Standards before releasing them to the Front Desk.
- Monitor room status and communicate closely with the Front Desk regarding room availability.
- Ensure guest requests are completed promptly.
Quality Assurance
- Perform detailed inspections of all cleaned rooms.
- Verify beds are made according to IHG standards.
- Ensure pillow protectors are installed correctly, followed by pillowcases.
- Inspect mattresses, mattress pads, bed frames, and headboards for cleanliness and condition.
- Check bathrooms for cleanliness, mold, mildew, proper caulking, and working fixtures.
- Verify mirrors, windows, furniture, refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, and all guest amenities are clean and operational.
- Ensure shower curtains, hookless curtains, and liners are installed correctly.
- Report damaged furniture or maintenance issues immediately.
Team Leadership
- Train all new housekeeping employees.
- Conduct regular retraining on IHG brand standards.
- Coach employees on proper cleaning procedures.
- Monitor employee productivity and quality.
- Maintain positive employee morale while holding team members accountable.
- Participate in hiring interviews and performance evaluations.
- Recommend disciplinary action when necessary.
Inventory & Supplies
- Monitor linen inventory and guest room supplies.
- Order supplies through approved IHG vendors only.
- Maintain proper par levels for:
- Towels
- Sheets
- Pillow protectors
- Pillows
- Amenities
- Cleaning chemicals
- Guest room supplies
- Report shortages immediately.
Laundry Operations
- Supervise laundry attendants.
- Ensure proper washing, drying, folding, and storage procedures.
- Inspect linens for stains or damage.
- Remove stained or damaged linens from service.
- Maintain a clean and organized laundry room.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow OSHA safety requirements.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals.
- Report workplace hazards immediately.
- Maintain security of master keys.
- Ensure lost-and-found procedures are followed.
- Comply with all hotel safety and emergency procedures.
Preventive Maintenance
During room inspections, identify and report:
- HVAC issues
- Plumbing leaks
- Damaged furniture
- Broken fixtures
- Lighting issues
- Carpet damage
- Wallpaper damage
- Paint touch-up needs
- Refrigerator or microwave issues
- Window covering damage
Work closely with the Maintenance Department to ensure repairs are completed promptly.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete daily housekeeping reports.
- Track room inspection scores.
- Submit maintenance work orders.
- Maintain housekeeping logs and checklists.
- Participate in department meetings.
- Assist with scheduling and payroll review.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of housekeeping supervisory experience preferred.
- Hotel experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of IHG Brand Standards is an asset.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to train and motivate employees.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
