Dual role position that will assist in dispensing all DME prescribed by our providers as well as assisting the DME Department directed by the DME Administrator.
The Assistant is responsible for the proper fitting and patient education of all DME products prescribed by our providers at all of our locations. The Assistant will be providing the patient with education on the application, use and care of the DME products prescribed by our providers. The Assistant will perform functional brace measuring and fitting, coordinating with patient for follow-up appointments if necessary. The Assistant will be the point of contact for scheduling, all patient concerns, questions and issues. The Assistant will also assist patients with any defective returns or exchanges, thru proper protocols and procedures. The Assistant will be responsible for documenting all patient information clearly and efficiently. The Assistant will assist in helping to maintain the DME inventory across all locations which includes but is not limited to organizing, cleaning up DME closets, assisting with inventory, unpacking product and forwarding packing slips to the DME Admin; collecting and notifying the patient of any patient financial responsibility – deposit, deductible, co-insurance or cash & carry payments on DME. When needed the Assistant will assist with submitting and obtaining proper pre-authorizations and checking benefits as set by the patient’s insurance policy or W/C - Auto Case. Maintaining clear verbal and non-verbal communication with the patient, providers, teams and DME Administrator at all times.
