Part-Time Mentor (Youth Mentorship Program)

We're looking for compassionate, dependable, and motivated Mentors to support high school-aged youth as they work toward earning their high school diploma through a supportive educational program.
This role is about more than teaching lessons—it's about building positive relationships, encouraging students to stay motivated, celebrating their progress, and creating a classroom where they feel supported, respected, and empowered to succeed. The ideal mentor leads with empathy, communicates with confidence, and provides the structure students need to thrive.

Program Details:
Location: Phoenix Union High School
4525 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85012
Pay: $20/hour
Start Date: July 27, 2026
Schedule: Monday-Friday, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM
Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week (about 6 hours per day)
Setting: In-Person Classroom
Responsibilities
- Build positive relationships with students through encouragement and consistent mentorship.
- Motivate students to stay engaged and work toward their educational goals.
- Check in with students regularly, offering guidance, support, and accountability.
- Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Encourage teamwork, participation, and personal growth.
- Supervise and manage a small group of students throughout the day.
- Maintain classroom organization and communicate professionally with school staff and the program team.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience working with youth through teaching, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, camps, after-school programs, or similar roles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building abilities.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to commit to the assigned weekly schedule.
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (REQUIRED).
Preferred
- Experience in education, youth development, psychology, social work, counseling, or STEM programs.
- Bachelor's degree or current coursework in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Passion for mentoring and helping students build confidence and achieve their goals.
- Ability to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds with empathy, patience, and professionalism.
