Unleashing Potential is seeking passionate and dependable Summer Part-Time Teaching Assistants for our summer programs at our Caroline Mission, Immanuel UCC and our Christ the King UCC locations. Unleashing Potential partners with local elementary schools and community partners to provide educational, curriculum-based programing before and after school. Teaching Assistants are responsible for implementing lesson plans and activities with students, facilitating field trips, and more. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who loves working with children and is interested in part-time employment.
Summer Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm. This position will run from June 15th to July 31st, the hours for the role will be between 20 to 25 hours during the week.
- Note: Teaching Assistant candidates must be willing to commit to working the defined schedule and program duration to be considered for the position.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Implements after school program under the supervision of the Site Coordinator/Manager.
- Give input into the creation of youth programming through daily direct interaction in classroom with children.

Implements a variety of program components, including evidenced based curricula containing character education, STEAM (Science, Technology, Arts and Math), life skills, academic and nutrition and physical fitness activities for school aged children.
- Facilitates field trips and special events for children
- Assists in the development and implements lesson plans and prepares for daily activities.

Facilitates regular group activities, (including educational, recreation, character building) and serves as a primary contact for students

May provide individual tutoring with childrenResponsible for various weekly programmatic reports Distributes snacks and meals to childrenOther duties as assigned

Education /Job Experience/Other Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

Must be able to successfully pass a background check through the State of MO

Reliable transportation between sites required

2 or more years experience in programming with school age children; or AA degree in Elementary Education, or related field strongly preferred
Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies

Strong interpersonal oral and written communication skills with the ability to facilitate meetings with external vendors, school district personnel, conduct evaluations, provide constructive feedback and resolve conflict, communicate with Parents, School Staff, Unleashing Potential Administration, Licensing, Funder Representatives, and Community Partners.

English fluency & strong math, reading, spelling, and comprehension skills required

Able to read, comprehend, and implement education-based lesson plans, especially relating to STEAM concepts.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, and the ability to learn to use new software and databases

The Teaching Assistant is a direct provider of after school programming in a St. Louis Region Elementary School, executing programs in alignment with Unleashing Potential’ mission and goals. Provides educational enrichment and character building programming to children. Conducts activities that cultivate growth not only academically but with a holistic approach.
