Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Automotive Shop Manager to lead our service department with enthusiasm and expertise. Duties
- Lead and supervise the automotive service team, including technicians and support staff, ensuring high standards of workmanship and customer care
- Oversee daily shop operations, including workflow management, scheduling, and resource allocation to maximize productivity
- Utilize estimating software and auto estimating techniques to prepare accurate repair estimates for various vehicle repairs and collision damage assessments
- Manage service writing processes, ensuring clear communication of repair needs and scope of work to clients
- Upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, suspension work, transmission repairs, air brake systems, shocks & struts, and other mechanical services to enhance revenue
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and repair procedures including engine performance, transmissions, suspension systems, and collision repair
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment while adhering to all regulatory standards
- Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain detailed records of all financial activities related to service sales
Experience
- Proven dealership or automotive shop management experience with a strong background in auto service operations
- Extensive mechanic experience with hands-on knowledge of automotive diagnostics and repair procedures
- Familiarity with Mitchell1 software and service writing tools
- Demonstrated success in upselling services while maintaining excellent customer relationships
- Strong understanding of automotive repair specialties such as collision repair, oil changes, tire service, brakes, shocks & struts, transmissions, air brake systems, suspension components
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to drive company vehicles as needed
