Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Possibly take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
- Conduct initial patient assessments by reviewing medical histories to inform treatment plans.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health.
- Assist dentists during procedures using to optimize efficiency and patient comfort.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EMR systems) such as OrthoPMS, ensuring accurate documentation of treatments and medical records.
- Maintain infection control standards by adhering to HIPAA regulations, aseptic techniques, and sterilization protocols for dental equipment.
- May need to submit insurance.
Requirements
- Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings, with proficiency in dental assisting and chairside support.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health.
- Familiarity with dental equipment, X-ray machines, and medical imaging techniques.
- Experience with EHR systems such as OrthoPMS for documentation review and management.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about dental care and hygiene practices.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and infection prevention management.
